We were expecting some mail from the UK before Christmas, and having not received it by Christmas Eve, I thought I’d call NZ Post to see what could be done to locate it.
Apparently Royal Mail in the UK can choose who their end ‘delivery agent’ is. So this year they chose DX Mail to perform the task of handling UK sourced mail. So, I called DX Mail to see what could be done in locating my letter.
Terms like ‘needle in a haystack’ were used to describe the luck I was going to have in finding my letter, but I was advised that they were having ’significant delays’ and that over 37tons!! of mail has been ‘misdirected’. This was compared to lost luggage when you travel overseas. That’s a lot of lost luggage by anyone’s definition.
So anyway I’m expecting my needle letter to arrive after 26th December, else DX Mail might be getting another phone call.
UPDATE: Our mail has now arrived, but apparently the whole cleanup operation won’t finish until after New Years.
